Tony Blair and Gordon Brown want to commit Britain to a new generation of nuclear weapons even though a decision doesn’t really need to be made for another ten years. And even though there is no possible use for these weapons – they certainly won’t stop terrorism. So in just a few days - the 14th March - MPs will be voting on replacing Trident with a new nuclear weapons system.

They are doing this despite strong opposition from voters - a recent poll showed that 76% of voters think it is wrong to replace Trident now.

Our World Our Say is organising a virtual lobby of MPs to get across to them the strength of public feeling on this issue – to get them to think again. Thousands of people will be lobbying in person but this initiative gives those who can’t be present the chance to take part.

With operational costs the Trident replacement will cost Britain up to £76 billion over its lifetime: money that could be used to renew our underfunded infrastructure – like new hospitals, schools and investment in public transport.
